The story of an idea

Bressan Labium

The inspiration:
The art of Baroque recorder making

At the beginning of the 18th century London was one of the leading centres of recorder making in Europe. Instruments by P.I. Bressan in particular gained worldwide recognition by the standards of the time. Even nowadays his instruments are reputed to be the most elaborate and interesting in the world.

The idea:
A recorder for contemporary demands

Today’s recorder players require instruments that, in addition to possessing a rich and flexible timbre, speak easily and securely even in extreme registers, with good intonation and able to withstand great strain without loss of sound quality.

The realisation: BRESSAN by BLEZINGER

The project is based on Stephan Blezinger’s extensive knowledge of instruments by P.I.Bressan and decades of making entirely handcrafted recorders.

The most recent high precision woodwork technology as well as intensive research into treatment of woods are combined with highly skilled workmanship in the hand-finishing of every single instrument – just as in entirely handmade recorders.

The result is recorders suitable for the highest musical demands, warm, brilliant and able to modulate, easily playable due to their secure response and precise intonation. And, also very important: an instrument that can be offered at a sensible price.
